Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, will have an opening for a temporary planning assistant to work on transportation planning projects and studies tentatively starting early August 2013 and ending in December 2013. This position's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: assisting with a variety of transportation and community planning and zoning projects; corridor studies; NEPA documentation; zoning codes; development review; long-range plans. Tasks will include a substantial amount of research, data collection and analysis, correspondence, and document writing.

Because this position is temporary, it does not include benefits. Some travel and overnight stays may be required. Candidates should have a valid driver's license. This position will be will be approximately 20 hours per week, but could vary depending upon the workload and progress of the projects. 

Successful candidates must have a bachelor's degree or higher in urban/regional planning, urban studies, engineering, public administration or closely related field.
The ideal candidate will possess any/all of the following: at least one semester of graduate level coursework in a discipline related to planning; working knowledge of urban planning principles; general knowledge of Microsoft Office and GIS; strong analytical and quantitative skills, strong writing and communication skills, deadline oriented. Experience with Adobe Illustrator is a plus.
